A Day in the Life of a Pinterest Manager

A Day in the Life of a Pinterest Manager

If you’ve ever wondered what the day to day tasks of a Pinterest manager looks like, then this post is for you! Read on to find out how I structure my day to manage client work, house work, and precious time with my sweet baby girls.

In my other posts on the blog, I’ve shared about what I “actually do” (which some people still don’t get) as a Pinterest manager. Today I want to share a breakdown of what “a day in the life” looks like for me as a business owner, wife, and momma of two littles.

I hope it’s helpful not just for those wanting to learn more about what a Pinterest manager does, but for anyone considering becoming one themselves!

Rise and Shine

My day starts anywhere between 4AM and 5:30AM. It usually depends on what time I go to bed, and to be honest, it’s usually too late. That’s one of my biggest dilemmas – I actually like staying up in the evening, but I also need to get up early to work.

I have found that my most productive and focused hours are in the morning.

I usually don’t get all of my client work done during this time but that’s okay. When I’ve already been up working in the morning for 2-3 hours, I’m ready for a break by the time my girls are waking up.

I have a 3.5-year-old daughter and an almost 16-month-old daughter! Right now we are in the “busy” stage where they need my undivided attention or who knows where they will end up (how about under my bathroom sink)!

I decided when I started my business that I would not go the daycare route. There’s nothing wrong with it, but I started working from home so I could be with my girls. I never want to be so busy that I can’t spend my days with them.

I know these sweet, sweet years will go by so very fast, and I don’t want to look back and wish I’d been more present.

The Breakdown

So back to my morning routine! In the wee hours of the morning, my kiddos are *usually* still snoozing, so here’s the morning routine that I’ve created:

–> 5 AM Wake up and COFFEE

Yes, I’m addicted, and I have no intentions of breaking up with caffeine anytime soon! If you can get by without it, good for you! 😉

–> 5 AM-7 AM Work

I usually answer a few emails, and then start working on my client accounts. I try to work on at least 2-3 client accounts per weekday.

  • If it’s an organic management client, I’m making new pins, scheduling, and writing SEO-rich descriptions.
  • If it’s a Pinterest ads client, I’m checking on their campaign. Once a week I sent a weekly report.

–> 7 AM-8:30 AM Good morning and Breakfast

We love our morning snuggles together, so once they’re up, the laptop shuts down for me! After snuggles is breakfast and then cleaning up breakfast to start our day.

Afternoon adventures

A huge factor for me in my business is that even when I’m super backed up on client work, I never think about it during the day when I’m spending time with my girls.

Not only do they demand my attention (haha), but because that time is always reserved for them.

I’ve had sitters a few times during the day so I could get projects done, and let me just say, I realized that sitting and working for 6-8 hours straight is not for me. I know that sounds ridiculous, but that’s how I feel!

That’s one of the joys of being your own boss – you get to make your own schedule.

Here’s what an afternoon typically looks like for me:

–> 9:00 AM-12:00 PM Exploration

Here are some of the many fun things I do on a day-to-day basis during this timeframe: library, park playdates, Children’s Museum and Zoo visits, Grandma’s house, lunch in town, any necessary appointment, dance class, swim class, and “mommy school”, just to name a few.

–> 12:00 PM-1:00 PM Lunchtime with my girls

–> 1:00 PM-1:30 PM Wind down time, get ready for a nap, read books

–> 1:30 PM-3:00 PM Nap time Hustle

  • This is a great time for me to have discovery calls, answer emails, and get any small tasks done!

Burning the Midnight Oil

To be honest, as I’ve grown my business, I’ve probably overworked myself. In addition to client work, I have little to no real downtime during the entire day. If you have small kids, you understand what I mean!

My evenings consist of playtime, dinner, and more client work. Part of being a “boss mom” is that never-ending balance of family and business.

–> 3:00 PM-5:00 PM Play with my girls, go for a walk with them, make dinner, clean up any messes

–> 5:00 PM-7:30 PM Dinner, clean-up, bath time, get girls ready for bed

–> 7:45 PM-10:30 PM Work on client work (organic and paid management) and occasional discovery calls.

As I said, I do know that I would like more downtime.

If I’m being totally honest, sometimes it’s hard to fall asleep in the evening because my mind is too stimulated. But, as I work to scale (grow) my business, I’m consciously cutting back on the number of hours I work during the evening.

While I’m discussing this balance, a business coach has made a world of difference for me. If you’re interested in learning more, drop a comment at the end of this post!

Everyone Needs Help

Okay, the one thing I have not mentioned throughout this post yet is my amazing husband.

I can’t do it all and thankfully for me, I don’t have to do it all!

My husband Matt cleans up the dinner dishes, gives the girls a bath while I shower, and puts our 3.5-year-old to bed while I put the baby to bed. He even folds laundry while he watches sports.

What can I say, I’m a lucky lady.

I did have a few breakdowns early on in my business when I felt overwhelmed and overbooked (hello, this was a GREAT thing), but nonetheless, I was stressed out!

So, he finally said, “How can I help?”. Poor guy, he didn’t know what can of worms he had opened!

While I love bragging about my man, my point is this – whether you have your own business, are considering starting one, or something else… we all need help, so don’t feel bad asking for it!

That’s All Folks

Well, there you have it!

Being a Pinterest manager has given me the freedom to spend time with my family, bring in income, and create lasting memories with my beautiful girls.
